Abstract: Today, many universities have introduced “Propaedeutic”. The cause of the introduction is the “universalization” of higher education resulted from the decline in the population of those age 18 and the growing percentage of those going on to universities. Universities are now required to take care of their students from more diversified aspects than they used to be, such as their declining academic achievement, their attitudes for lectures and motivation to learn as well as their interests in society. Under the circumstances, JWCPE set up and implemented a new “introductory seminar”for freshmen from the first semester of 2001 through 2002 academic year. This seminar is characterized by its small class size. This type of seminar could be put into practice once more in the next few years. This article will observe the seminar in reference to how those seminar classes were conducted and what the students reactions were.
