Abstract: In 1934, the Press Law was amended at the 65th Imperial Diet. One of the significant points of this amendment is addition of new punishable categories to non-periodical publications. The new categories are blaspheming the dignity of the Imperial House and disturbing the peace and order. This addition in 1934 was the equalization of the Press Law with the Newspaper Law. What were the reasons for this equalization? In pursuit of answers of the question, I closely examine the arguments about the notion of blaspheming the dignity of the Imperial House at the Imperial Diet.
