Abstract: In 2012 I investigated changes in the self-efficacy in fourth year students enrolled in a 4-year childcare worker training course at a university. I surveyed the student’s self-efficacy before and after practice teaching at nursery schools in June. I surveyed them again on graduation. I used the Scale for Students' Self-Efficacy from Practical Experience Training at Nursery Schools (Osonoe, 2009)and the Miki and Sakurai (1998) Pre-school Teacher Efficacy Scale. I then compared the changes in scores. On the Osonoe Scale there were significant differences between before and after practice teaching and between before practice teaching and the time of graduation, but there was no significant difference between after practice teaching and the time of graduation. On the Miki and Sakurai Pre-school Teacher Efficacy Scale there was no significant difference between before and after practice teaching, but there were significant differences between after practice teaching and the time of graduation and between before practice teaching and the time of graduation.
